Five years ago, I had no idea that today I would be seeking selection as a prospective MP. I am not a career politician. I thought that my way of helping people would be through my charitable, community and international development work and in my role as a lawyer. But the more I did, the more I saw how much can be done to improve the lives of people around you, your family, community and country. At the same time, I was fed up with the way this Labour Government has promised so much but has delivered so little. So I decided to get actively involved in politics.
Politics needs people from different backgrounds to stand for office and I hope I bring a down to earth, accessible and fresh approach. I have been lucky to have had a varied life to date and I believe this has provided me with an excellent all-round grounding for the demands of public life.
